Reasons for Undetectable CO in Common Scenarios
đŻď¸Candles:
The small amount of CO produced by extinguishing a candle will quickly diffuse and dilute in an open environment. The instrument's response time is approximately 2 seconds, making it prone to not detecting CO.
đĽStoves:
If you are testing near a stove, even with good ventilation, only a very small amount of CO gas will be produced, which will quickly diffuse into the surrounding air, resulting in no detection.
đŞď¸Car Exhaust Gases:
Modern cars are equipped with three-way catalytic converters, an emission control device primarily used to reduce harmful gases in vehicle exhaust. Installed in the exhaust system, it uses a catalytic reaction to convert harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases into harmless substances. The CO content in exhaust gases is extremely low, making it difficult to detect.
Simple Home Self-Test Method
Due to the special nature of the home environment, it is difficult to use a standard carbon monoxide cylinder for testing. We recommend testing in a closed, oxygen-deficient environment as follows:
â Place the product in an enclosed space.
⥠Place a lit cigarette/mosquito coil/paper near the ventilation opening on the back of the detector. (Since CO is produced by incomplete combustion, the smoke contains a large amount of CO gas. We recommend using a cigarette or mosquito coil for measurement.)
⢠If the CO value on the display increases within 1-2 minutes, the detector is working properly.
â ď¸Please Note:
A reading of 000 PPM is normal when there is no carbon monoxide gas in the surrounding environment.
