Carbon monoxide poisoning is a potential hazard, particularly when using stoves in enclosed spaces. Understanding the dangers of carbon monoxide and how to use stoves safely is crucial for outdoor activities, especially during winter camping.

While stoves produce carbon monoxide during efficient combustion, contact with cold surfaces can disrupt the chemical reaction, leading to the generation of harmful levels of the gas. Understanding this process helps us avoid danger when using stoves.

Blood has an affinity for carbon monoxide that is 200 to 250 times stronger than for oxygen; consequently, once inhaled, carbon monoxide displaces oxygen in the blood, depriving the brain of necessary oxygen. Awareness of this fact enhances safety consciousness during outdoor activities.

Although using a stove inside a tent may sometimes be necessary, it is inherently unsafe. Understanding the potential risks and safety measures is key to ensuring safety while camping.

Tests showed that the use of heat-exchanger pots increased carbon monoxide production. However, the results indicated that temperature and carbon monoxide levels within the tent remained within relatively safe limits, offering some reassurance for winter camping.
In the first test, the temperature inside the tent reached 3 ...0 to 35°C, with carbon monoxide levels remaining at 0 ppm. This highlights the critical importance of managing ventilation inside the tent when using a stove.

Adequate ventilation is essential when using a stove while camping. For safety and to prevent carbon monoxide buildup, the best practice is to place the stove outside.

Testing showed that the stove produces significant amounts of carbon monoxide upon ignition, often triggering the alarm within a short time. This demonstrates the device's sensitivity and underscores the need for safety precautions.

Gas stove efficiency drops in winter conditions; adjusting the fuel canister's position may be necessary to improve performance. This is a key tip for ensuring optimal operation in cold weather.

Ideally, the stove should be placed outside the tent, with indoor use reserved only for when it is necessary. This minimizes the risk of carbon monoxide exposure and ensures campsite safety.
